Bluelite Group & Prior-Striping: your reference point for battenburg vehicle livery for Ambulance 112 - Intermediary - NDLZ - Police - FAST

We work with high-quality, approved materials such as Avery, 3M and Oralite, ensuring that vehicle are fitted with Class 3 (Diamond Grade) & Class 2 (High Intensive Grade) striping retroreflective signage. This includes contour markings, a Battenburg pattern on the sides and chevrons on the rear in accordance with the new Royal Decree.

Visibility, recognisability and safety are three fundamental concepts for emergency and security services.

Choice of colour

The emergency and security services distinguish themselves on the basis of different vehicle livery colours. Almost all services start from a fluorescent yellow background. It has been scientifically proven that this color is the most visible. As a contrasting colour, ambulance services choose green, the fire services choose red and the FAST services (motorways – towing/signage) choose black. Only the Civil Protection has chosen orange and blue as its colours. The traditional police colours in almost all of Europe are fluorescent yellow with different shades of blue.

In a 'full' Battenburg, there are two rows of seven blocks, with the yellow and blue blocks, usually about 30 by 60 cm, alternating with each other.

A full Battenburg is usually used for emergency intervention vehicles. Sometimes a 'half' Battenburg is also used, with one row of seven blocks. This is usually used for vehicles that are not used for urgent interventions.

On the rear of the vehicles, 'chevrons' are used, diagonally upright stripes in a herringbone pattern. Very often, emergency and security services opt for the colours fluorescent yellow and orange-red. However, for police vehicles, they are also available in fluorescent yellow and blue.

Prismatic material

The power of visibility lies in the use of prismatic film. This material consists of about a thousand small prisms per square centimetre. About 90 percent of the light that bounces off it is reflected directly back to the light source.

As a result, vehicles with this film are about four times more visible than a normal vehicle and can be seen up to a distance of at least 500 metres.

Ambulances - 112

On vehicle sides, battenburg livery features yellow-green blocks and on the back oblique red-yellow stripes. This meets the new standards for medical priority vehicles.

Police

Four times more visible thanks to Battenburg striping. In a full Battenburg, there are two rows of seven blocks, with the yellow and blue blocks, usually about 30 by 60 cm, alternating with each other.

On the rear of the vehicles, 'chevrons' are used, diagonally upright stripes in a herringbone pattern.

F.A.S.T.

This vehicle is employed for motorway security and benefits from a battenburg specification of block pattern yellow-green / black. On the one hand, this creates better recognition among road users and, on the other hand, increases the visibility of the vehicle at the scene of the incident.
